Obituary for Benajmin Amato

Benjamin P Amato passed away on October 1, 2022 at home with his wife Doris, son Ben (BJ), brother Paul, and brother-in-law Chet at his side.

He was born in Scranton, PA on July 30, 1937, where he grew up with his brother Paul and sister Paula. After graduating from Penn State with a bachelors degree and masters degree in Education, Ben settled in State College with his first wife Diane and raised a family of 5 children: Michael B Amato (Mary Ann), Guy M Amato (Dawn), Renee Amato Jury (Jeff), Benjamin J Amato (Deanne), and Marion Amato Faulhaber.

After briefly working at Penn State, he started and built a financial planning and investment business (Professional Planning Consultants) that thrived for over 50 years.

Ben was a prominent and loved member of our community. He played many roles in countless
lives as papa, father, brother, uncle, coach, adviser, consultant, Elder, and entertainer.

Ben loved people, he enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and could often be seen at the Ale House piano bar singing while enjoying music and the company of others. He was a well-known entertainer in the area.

Ben is survived by his second wife Doris Sheriff Amato, 5 children, 7
Grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a stepson, and 3 step-grandchildren.

The Amato family will be holding a celebration of life at The All-American Ale House on Cricklewood Ave in Toftrees from 12-3PM on Saturday November 5. Members of the community who knew Ben are encouraged to attend.
