Obituary for Bill Bookhammer
Bill C. Bookhammer, 81, of Altoona, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Jan 24, 2024.
Born July 17, 1942, he was the son of the late St Clair and Rosetta (Napolitana) Bookhammer. He grew up in Williamsburg, graduating from Williamsburg High School in 1960.
On July 2, 1960, he married Sara Taylor and they had five children.
After serving in the US Army for three years, he worked for US Steel 11 years and then for Conrail/Norfolk Southern until his retirement in 2007.
Bill was an active member of Grace Bible Church in Hollidaysburg.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sara; 3 children Lori Lapp (Dean), Kimberly Bair, and William Bookhammer (Shelly); 5 grandchildren Sarah Lapp, Ben Lapp, Maxwell Bair (Catherine), Alexander Bair and Adeline Bair and close family friends Katherine Hainley and Steven Eckels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant twin daughters Theresa and Sandra Dee.
A memorial service will be held on Feb 10 at 10:30 am at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg PA.
