Obituary for Daniel Aten

“You better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime”
-Eminem

Daniel W. Aten, 34, of Bellefonte died on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 surrounded by family and close friends.

He was born on October 19, 1983 in Jenkintown, PA, a son of Norman Aten and Shelley (Cooper) Aten. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Emily Marie (Angert) Aten whom he wed on June 12, 2011 and his three year old son, Tyler Daniel Aten.

He graduated from Penn State with a BS in 2006 and again in 2009 with an MS in Electrical Engineering. He was employed as an electrical engineer at the Applied Research Lab at Penn State.

Dan loved life. You would see him tailgating all home PSU football games, schooling his tailgate family at beer pong, laughing, and sharing some craft beers and bourbon or whiskey with friends. He loved adventures with his son Tyler, sharing his inquisitive personality, making up silly songs together, and setting off rockets. He had an active lifestyle including working out at the gym, playing volleyball, and skiing. He loved going to his camp to fish, hunt, and take in nature and all of its beauty.

A Celebration of Life will be held in November, full of tailgate games, poker, a bounce house, and reminiscing about love, family, and friends.

PA Simple Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements.
