Obituary for Edmund Hess

Our Dad, Edmund C. (Eddie) Hess of Curwensville, passed peacefully, at home, with his family, Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was 80 years old.

Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jane (Kline) Hess, whom he loved dearly, and created a Valentine for, every single year. Sometimes they were funny, but always they were special. Their bond as husband and wife was a great gift to our family.

Ed is survived by three children. Lance Hess, Scott (Patricia) Hess, and Nicole (Aaron) Williams. He loved and took great pride in his grandchildren, Corey Hess and Hayden Williams, and great grandchildren, Miya and Bryson Hess.

Our Dad was a wonderful cook who loved creating new dishes. His hot peppers were his most popular recipe. We will cherish these recipes, as well as all the memories of having a beer, a spirited debate, or sharing a joke. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and spent years enjoying countless fishing trips with friends. He was a dedicated high school sports fan, following many local athletes through their respective high school and college careers.

Ed served in the Army 7th Transportation Battalion, where in July, 1965, in Fort Campbell, KY, he was selected as soldier of the month, a distinction, and honor among thousands of candidates.

Our Dad lived a happy, full life, and we will miss his stories, his wit, his intelligence, and his love.

Ed was the youngest of ten children to Amos and Ruth Hess. He is survived by brothers John (Dick) and James Hess, and a sister Mary Harris. He was preceded in death by brothers Amos, Andy, and William Hess, and sisters Rhoda Billotte, Ruth Luzier, and Sally Rowles.

There will be no visitation or services.
