Obituary for Gary Moore

Gary M. Moore, 72, of Olanta passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at his home.

He was born on March 17, 1951 in Clearfield, a son of the late Robert and Maida (Condon) Moore.

Gary graduated from Curwensville High School in 1969. He then enlisted with the US army and served from 1970-1973. He completed his B.S. Degree of Psychology and Sociology in 1975, then in 1976 completed his Master's Degree of Psychology and Personnel, both at Eastern New Mexico Univeristy.

After Gary finished school, he moved to Alaska where he served with the Alaska National Guard as a Paratrooper and later became a Jumpmaster. During his 18 years of living in Alaska, he worked various jobs as a heavy equipment operator, technical writer, document coordinator and commercial diver.

Gary moved back to Curwensville in the mid 1990s. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of his animals. He was very proud of the house he built to run on green energy and solar power, as well as accommodating his needs.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Moore of IL, two brothers, Dave Moore and wife of VA, and Dennis Moore of OH; his significant other, Kathy Wheeler of Curwensville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Gary's wishes, there will be no public service or visitation.

The family would like to give a heartfelt and grateful thank you to the VA Clinic in DuBois for the care given over the years; Conemaugh Home Health Nurses, Amanda and Tina; and AseraCare Hospice.
