Obituary for Lillie "Tootsie" McGarvey (Davidson)
Lillie Larue “Tootsie” (Davidson) McGarvey, 90, of Mahaffey, went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on November 10, 2023.
Born on April 1, 1933, in Nanty Glo, PA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Fannie Davidson.
Lillie graduated from Mahaffey High School and worked in several factories. She married the love of her life, Irvin McGarvey, on September 3, 1955.
Lillie loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Mahaffey C&MA church. She was one of the founding members of the Ladies Home Missions Class. She sang in the choir and taught children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Her favorite Hymn was “In the Garden.”
She is survived by four children; Ron (Tammy) of Mahaffey, Tim (Brenda) of Altoona, Jan (Tom) Holes of Mahaffey, and Leanne (Mike) McCracken of Mahaffey; her beloved sister, Twila Bush of Mahaffey; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Irvin in 2020, along with her parents and an infant brother William.
A public memorial service with be held at the Mahaffey Alliance Church on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 4pm with Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lillie’s name to the Mahaffey Alliance Church.
