Brian
Pierce
April 19, 1958 – April 19, 2026
Brian Scott Pierce, 68, affectionately known to family and friends as "Butchie," passed away peacefully in his home in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on April 19, 2026, Born on April 19, 1958, in Altoona, Brian's life journey was marked by a steadfast dedication to hard work and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Throughout his career, Brian devoted many years to working in the cable industry. He also contributed his efforts to Waste Management and later to Wal-Mart, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to the roles he embraced. Though his professional life was varied, those who knew Brian cherished more his laid-back nature and his ability to find joy beyond the workplace.
Butchie’s personality was defined by a calm and easygoing spirit, which endeared him to those around him. He took delight in spending time at Highland Park and particularly enjoyed playing games such as darts, lawn darts, and horseshoes. A lover of music, Brian found comfort in listening to the oldies on the radio, where tunes that carried memories of days gone by provided a joyful soundtrack to his life. His passion for sports was evident in his support for the Raiders and the Michigan Wolverines, teams that held a special place in his heart.
Butchie leaves behind a number of cherished family members who survive him and carry forward his legacy. Among them are Sonja Powell (Kittrell) of North Carolina and Erika Brown (Mitchell) of South Carolina. Grandfather to eighteen grandchildren: Kamren, Kayden, Kaelen, Laila, Maleigha, Keiyanah, Zuri, Kionna, Lola, Tavion, Kalina, Kaiya, Ciara, Tiana, Darian, Jada, and Liam, and one great-grandchild, DeAndre. Additionally, Tracy’s children—Tara, Zachery, and Tyler—remain part of the extended family structure that surrounded Butchie.
Butchie was preceded in death by several family members who shaped his early and adult life: his mother Emma Mack, longtime girlfriend Tracy Dejaiffe, son Wesley Pierce, and siblings Kevin and Celia Pierce. He was also preceded in death by great-grandchild Valerie, as well as many close cousins who played significant roles in his personal history.
Butchie Pierce’s passing marks the loss of a man whose demeanor was as steady as it was gentle. He found joy in life’s quiet moments and connected deeply with those around him through his laid-back approach. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his presence will be greatly missed in Altoona and beyond.
May Butchie rest in peace, remembered with respect and affection by his family and friends.
