David W. Daugherty Jr.

David Wayne Daugherty, Jr, age 81, passed away on August 19, 2025, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville, PA. David was born January 21, 1944, in Shelocta, PA. Son to David Wayne Daugherty, Sr. and Mabel (Wells) Daugherty. He was preceded in death by both parents, his ex-wife Cathy, second wife Judy, his sister Ethel Frances Wadding Mullinax and his daughter Kelly Deanne Ahline. He is survived by three siblings, Janet Stonebraker, Joyce (Brian) Pauly, and Betsy (Jim) Weese. Also, he is survived by daughters Kimberly (Scott) Gustafson and Wendy Daugherty, stepson Joe (Jen) Risberg, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

After graduation from Dayton High School in Pennsylvania, David moved to Chicago where he attended the Illinois Institute of Technology for mechanical engineering. He then began a 36-year career at Cardwell Westinghouse (Wabtec), Chicago, Illinois, in the rail industry. Starting as a detail draftsman and working his way through product development and R&D to General Manager. He acquired over 20 patents to new products and improvements to existing products during this time. He later worked for Stanrail Corp and also ventured in commercial real estate sales before his retirement to Grampian, PA.

While he was well known for being a man of strong opinions, he was also very generous and had a great sense of humor. He was a very proud American and equally proud of his Irish heritage. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed old cars, carpentry (designed and built our family home), loved hunting, fishing, camping, Nascar (#3 The Intimidator), and he was a huge supporter of the Irish Mist and Crown Royal industry for decades.

A private memorial for the family and close friends will be scheduled at a later date.
