George William Cunningham, 79, of Schellsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026 at Bedford Post Acute.
George (Bill) was born on October 19, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. He is the son of the late Henrietta (Kramer) Cunningham. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, and wife of 50 years, Roberta (Bobbie) Cunningham. Her passing left a void in his heart and he was never the same without her.
As a young man, Bill worked at the Bedford Springs. He then went on to work at Hedstrom, where he remained a dedicated employee for approximately 30 years. After Hedstrom closed their doors, Bill then spent close to a decade working at Bedford United Methodist Church, before retiring.
Bill was a humble and simple man who did not need much to be happy. He enjoyed helping others, road trips, flea markets, tinkering around in the shed, and he loved his dog, Tillie. But, most importantly, his life was defined by his devotion to his wife and children, who meant more to him than anything else. He will fondly be remembered for his kindness and his sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Emily Cunningham, of Bedford, PA; daughter, Paula Bottenfield, wife of Andy Bottenfield, and their two children, Zoey and Bo Bottenfield, all of Bedford, PA; brother and sister-in-law, John (Dave) and Carla Cunningham, of Kokomo, IN; sister, Shirley Snider, and nephew, Matthew Snider, both of Las Vegas, NV; and nephew, Joe Kochendarfer, of State College, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta (Kochendarfer) Cunningham; son, Michael William Cunningham; mother, Henrietta (Kramer) Cunningham; and niece, Tammy Snider.
As per Bill’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. The family will honor his life privately.
His daughters would like to thank the staff at Bedford Post Acute for providing comfort, dignity, and kindness while Bill was in their care. Also, a special thank you to neighbors, Shannon and Tanya Sarver, who have never hesitated to help when needed.
