Reynoldsville

James Lindy Sr., a man whose life was shown through  hard work, love of  his large family and cherished memories driving truck, peacefully departed this world on November 4, 2025, at Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 3, 1936, in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania, Jim embraced every moment with a spirit that was larger than life.

Jim dedicated his career to the open road as a truck driver from 1952 until 2008, a journey that allowed him to explore far and wide. From 1974 until his retirement, he also owned and operated Lindy's Concrete, which became a cornerstone of the community he so deeply cherished. Those who knew him recognized him as a hardworking family man, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim had a heart for adventure. He loved spending time camping at Glendale year-round park in Prince Gallitzin State Park, relishing in the beauty of nature and the simplicity of life outdoors. A passionate woodworker, he took great pleasure in creating custom furniture and crafts, pouring his heart into each handcrafted piece. His travels as a truck driver and businessman equipped him with stories and experiences that endeared him to those around him; he could recount tales from nearly every place on a map, captivating his audience with the rich tapestry of his adventures.

A devoted father, Jim leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: James Lindy Jr., John A. (Tobby) Bailey (Betty), Janet L. Speck (Richard), all of Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania; Lucinda A. Hummel (Lee) of Osceola Mills; JoAnn L. Bennett (Michael) of Brockway; Dan Bailey (Naomi); and Shawn D. Bailey of Reynoldsville. His family tree continues to flourish with 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his spirit and warmth.

Jim’s memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Lindy; a son, Jeffery Lindy; and two daughters, Debra Nicholson and Tammy Jo Johnson. He is also reunited in spirit with his brothers, Bud and Bill Lindy, and sisters, Betsy Smee, June Palmer, and Marge Garthwaite.
