Joanne Pearson, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on April 23, 2026.
Born on May 29, 1945, in Geradville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Gustitus) Tankalavage. Joanne was raised in DuBois, Pennsylvania, and graduated from DuBois High School in 1963.
On July 2, 1966, she married G. Burton Pearson, after which the couple made their home in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Joanne dedicated 22 years of service to CIU-10-DVA before retiring.
She is survived by her sister, Frances Krumm of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania; her niece, Tracey Fry of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her nephew, Randy Fry and his wife, Lisa, of Mt. Holly Springs, Pennsylvania; her adopted granddaughter, Brittany Hutton and her husband, Raymond, of Clearfield, Pennsylvania; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Pearson of Springville, New York. She is also survived by many beloved great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and adopted great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, G. Burton Pearson; her nephews, Danny Fry and Jack Thompson; and her sister-in-law, Sonja Pearson Fry.
Joanne found great joy in spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, crafting, and caring for animals. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the N.O.N.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 5, 2026 at 3pm at her home. 628 Armor Street, Clearfield, Pennsylvania 16830.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joanne’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Christ the King Manor, The Salvation Army, or YPWC—organizations she cared deeply about and supported throughout her life.
