Lance Elliott Kauffman

Lance E. Kauffman, 69, a life-long resident of McVeytown, Bratton Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2026, at his residence. He had just received the news he had beat cancer 4 days prior.

Born May 29, 1957 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Gertrude A. (Harshbarger) Kauffman. He was united in marriage to Karen C. (Brown) Kauffman on March 3, 1997, who survives at their residence.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three siblings, Duane Kauffman of Lansdale, Dolores N. Graber of Nappanee, IN, and Alice G. Miller and husband, Edward L. Miller, of McVeytown; as well as, 13 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, M. Joanne (Kauffman) Peachey, Brenda A. Kauffman, and Loren C. "Cannonball" Kauffman; a nephew, Edward C. Kauffman; a sister-in-law, Naomi (Hoover) Kauffman; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Peachey and Alvin Graber.

Lance was a 1975 graduate of Belleville Mennonite School.

He was primarily a dairy farmer and spent the majority of his life maintaining his family's farm. Most recently, he was employed by Amos Peachey at Big Valley Pallet, Belleville, as a driver. A job that he truly enjoyed.

Lance was a man of few words and could mainly be found tinkering around his property. He enjoyed taking care of the various animals he had throughout his lifetime, and had a special bond with his wife's horse, Marley; his dog, Snugs; and his cat, Slink, who will all miss him greatly. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, rummaging through flea markets, and riding his side-by side.

A celebration of Lance's life will be held at the convenience of his family and friends.
