Lawrence 'Zeke' Jonas Zimmerman

Lawrence (Zeke) Jonas Zimmerman, 61, of Julian, PA, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2025 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. He was born on January 7, 1964 to Lawrence J. Zimmerman and Ethel M. (Liberty) Zimmerman. He married his wife Kimberly (Oswalt) Zimmerman on June 13, 1987. They would have celebrated 38 years together.

Larry was employed by OPP, Penn State University for 21 years until his retirement. He loved hunting fishing and just being outdoors.

Larry is survived by his wife Kimberly Zimmerman of Julian; his children Heather Zimmerman and Jonas Zimmerman both of Julian, PA. His granddaughter Kailey who was his whole world and was his bug, and his grand fur children Creed, Henry, Bella, Daisy, Lexon and Charlie. He is also survived by his siblings Adam (Laura) of Julian, Cookie (Gary) Cowher of Julian and Charlotte (Joe) Ghaner of Tyrone, mother-in-law Judy Sherman of Pleasant Gap and sister-in-laws Michelle (Ron) Aungst of Lock Haven and Kristy (Eric) Sherman of Avis. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Darman Sherman and his best canine companion Blade.

To follow Larry’s wishes there will be a small service at a later date for family and friends as he will be laid to rest with his parents on the place he was happiest at and that is on his homestead that he cherished.

Larry will be remembered by his kindness and love he shared with his family and friends especially all his new bingo friends and doggy friend Leia he met over the last several months especially his buddy James and all the employees and patrons at DJ’s Cafe which was his favorite eating spot.

The family would like to thank UPMC Hospice and all the caregivers that helped with Larry’s care we cannot express our gratitude enough in the care and compassion he received.

Larry will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
