Melvin T. Fisher

Melvin T. (Mel) Fisher, 85, of McVeytown, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Greenwood Village in Lewistown. He was the husband of Jacqueline F. (Smith) Fisher.  Born in Mifflin county on June 11, 1940, Mel was the son of the late Willis H. and Margaret (Snook) Fisher. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his daughter, Denise Fisher; two sisters Laura Mowery and Cecelia Grove; and four brothers Donald, Charles, Calvin, and Homer Fisher.                                  

Mel attended Granville United Methodist Church. In his earlier years, he was a Farm Supervisor at Milton Hershey School before retaining a position as Carpenter. Mel finished out his tenure at MHS in Structural Trades as a Carpenter and Cabinetmaker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. 

Melvin is survived by his wife, Jackie, whom he married in 1978, seven children: Beth Streeper (Kevin) of  Washington, UT, Scott Buck (Christel) of Lock Haven, Terri Oellig (Jason) of Lebanon, Traci Clark (Chris) of Halifax, Raymond Buck of McVeytown, Tammy Gasper (Ted) of Middletown, Kim Hitz (Chip) of Hummelstown; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four siblings: Joyce Miller, Violet Prendergast, Mildred Colyer, and Marshall Fisher.

A visitation will be held at Granville United Methodist Church, 1346 North River Road, on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10 AM followed by a Celebration of Life service.
